Friends of Verdi Square has launched a Business Council whose inaugural members will be the 40+ businesses on the perimeter of Verdi Square Park. We welcome them and all of our UWS businesses to join as stewards of the park at this important moment when we are about the open the park during a special ribbon cutting ceremony on September 21st!


 We hope that you’ve noticed the exciting beautification work that has gone on in the last several months in Verdi Square.  There is much more to come!

So far:
Invasive groundcover removed
Vermin population exterminated (ongoing)
Woodland, Meadow and Rose gardens created (ongoing)
Native species planted including: Autumn Fern, Virginia Sweetspire, Flowering Dogwood, Rosy Sedge, etc. (ongoing)
A new sitting area with café tables and chairs (new!)

Who we are:
A newly formed non-profit neighborhood group, dedicated to improving Verdi Square Park for all who live in the neighborhood, pass through this area and do business and patronize the Verdi Square businesses.

Ribbon Cutting Ceremony:
On Saturday, September 21, 2019, at 11am, we will officially open the new sitting area in The Woodland garden at Verdi Square with a ribbon cutting ceremony involving all 40 businesses that rim the square. We will invite you, as a Verdi Square business owner, to participate in this historic, celebratory event.

Our Verdi Square Business Support Goal:
Our annual budget to complete and maintain all three garden areas at Verdi Square is over $150,000. We are counting on members of our newly formed Business Council, individual Friends of Verdi Square, and others to help make this happen. Please help us complete the gardens, and help us maintain the beauty, safety and cleanliness of this special park!
